Changes in R-22?

I think most homeowners are aware that our industry changed refrigerants a few years ago from R-22 to R-410a. Most homeowners still have R-22 in their outdoor units. You my friend are the person this article is intended for. The EPA governs how much R-22 is produced each year until the complete phase out in 2020. The biggest problem we face is the EPA will not let the manufacturers know until sometime in March how much R-22 they can manufacture. This causes speculation on pricing due to the uncertainty on the amount produced. Since the downgrade in production started in 2006 we have seen the price we pay triple. Guess what! It is almost a new year and we are being warned already that prices will be rising higher. If you have older systems that you have been puting refrigerant in to get by, it is in your best interest to start looking at replacing your leaky old unit with a unit that is alot more effiecient and will not nickel and dime you. The money you would save on your utility bills and saved service calls would let it pay for itself. You have many options so give us a call to schedule a time to go over all the ways we can make your home more efficient and comfortable.
